Mark Hanf, Broker-President
Mark began a career in real estate in 1982. For over 20 years Mark was responsible for buying, selling, financing and managing residential and commercial real estate for a closely held company in the Bay Area. He earned a degree in Business Administration with a focus in finance and accounting from the prestigious Menlo School of Business Administration. During his career as a real estate principal, he became an expert at using leverage to execute real estate strategies, successfully closing over 100 purchase and refinance loans, ranging from $100,000 to $7,500,000.
Since founding Pacific Private Money in 2008, the company has originated over 600 privately-funded loans. Pacific is among the fastest growing private lenders in California, earning a well-deserved reputation for fast performance, reliability and transparency.
Mark is an expert at property valuation, mortgage lending and the complex new lender compliance laws. His strength with numbers and attention to detail, coupled with years of hands-on transactional experience makes him especially skilled at evaluating loan scenarios and originating sensible private money loans for the company’s growing list of private individual investors.
He has lived and worked his entire life in the Bay Area—a second-generation real estate investor—and has long-standing professional relationships and community affiliations.

Lisa has been a licensed real estate agent since 1999 and earned an MBA from the Haas School of Business at Cal Berkeley. Lisa is the Operations Manager for Pacific, and also manages client relations with Pacific’s growing community of Trust Deed investors. Lisa is a licensed real estate salesperson under the California Dept. of Real Estate, license No. 1252856.
For over 20 years Edward Brown was CEO of a $40 million hard money lending company based in Marin County. Today he is working with Mark to raise money for Pacific’s Mortgage Pool Fund. Edward also presently hosts three radio shows; “The Best of Investing”, a popular business show heard throughout the Bay Area every Saturday at 1pm on 910AM KKSF, “Sports Econ 101”, a national sports and business show, and now, “Mortgage Investing 101” along with Mark Hanf, on 960AM KNEW every Saturday at 10am.
Edward earned his B.S. in Accounting and M.S in Taxation from Golden Gate University, and has held licenses and certifications including Real Estate Salesperson, Insurance License, Series 7 Securities License, Tax Preparation License, and Certified Fund Specialist.
Edward has appeared and consulted as an expert witness in both court and arbitration cases including investments and analysis of financial statements and tax returns, and had been appointed by the Department of Justice to be the chairman of the Equity Committee to protect the interests of 29,000 shareholders of a $500 million REIT. He has published articles in financial magazines and appeared on television on CNN’s, “Ask the Expert” and “Your Money.” He has lived in Marin County for over 50 years.
Kevin Green has over 15 years of experience in commercial and residential mortgage originations. Kevin’s background includes all facets of real estate, with an specific emphasis on private money and hard money loan originations. Kevin’s role at Pacific Private Money includes sourcing and underwriting both commercial and residential properties, transactional structuring, investor/broker/borrower relations, and ongoing market research. Kevin, who was born and raised in Silicon Valley, is also an active real estate investor in California, Nevada, and Utah.
Kevin’s vast experience includes Vice President of Sales for one the largest mortgage banker/brokers in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Prior to joining Pacific Private Money, Kevin was an Account Executive for one of the top private money lending firms located in San Francisco.
Kevin received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Chico State University and a Master of Science in Business Management from Notre Dame De Namur University. Kevin is a licensed real estate salesperson under the California Dept. of Real Estate, license No. 01241542 and a Licensed California property and casualty insurance producer, CDI No. 0G89362. He is also a licensed Mortgage Loan Originator, NMLS No. 1130752.
Gus Menendez, Loan Officer
Born and raised in South Florida, Gus got his start in sales when he was 18 years old. At the age of 20 he was given the opportunity to work for one of the largest hard-money lenders in South Florida where he went on to work for the next 16 years. A perennial top-producer for the company, he generated in excess of $12 million per year in loans funded. Having always been fond of the Bay Area, Gus decided to relocate after being offered the chance to join the Pacific Private Money team. Gus is a licensed real estate salesperson under the California Dept. of Real Estate, license No. 01910488, as well as, a licensed Mortgage Loan Originator NMLS, License No. 380409.
Mirka Garrett has been coordinating and documenting privately-funded loans for over six years. Her expertise in our state-of-the-art loan origination software and her precise attention to detail has made her proficient in loan documentation. Her vast experience and array of knowledge in this industry has helped Mirka become an expert on the latest regulations and areas of compliance. She is responsible for carrying out each transaction from the loan origination through final recording.

Debbie is a detail-oriented Accounting professional with more than 10 years of experience in corporate environments, including 6 years as Senior Manager of Global Revenue for a fixed income investment management firm in New York. She is proficient in a wide range of accounting functions; including general accounting and trust accounting. Debbie is an extremely meticulous and well organized individual with outstanding analytical and problem solving skills. Debbie’s strong background in accounting and finances makes her especially adept at managing Pacific’s growing portfolio of serviced loans. Her role at Pacific Private Money also includes accounting for the firm and its entities.
Born and raised in Novato, CA, Jordynn holds strong ties with the local community; so it is no surprise she enjoys working at Novato-based Pacific Private Money. Jordynn attended Sonoma State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. Prior to joining the PPM team she utilized her education with an internship in the Marketing Department of Exchange Bank in Sonoma County. Jordynn’s current responsibilities include activities in support of loan origination, funding, closing & post-closing processes, assisting in the underwriting process, marketing and other tasks in support of Pacific Private Money’s office functionality.
Rick has over 30 years’ experience in banking, underwriting and real estate lending. He began at Household Finance, the spent ten years with First Interstate Bank/Wells Fargo as the State Senior Underwriter for the bank’s California lending operations. Rick later became a senior partner for Advisors Lending Group, where he was responsible for loan production management, mortgage banking operations and instituted a zero-fraud tolerance policy. His efforts grew the operation from a single office to five offices with total loan closings over $5B. During his tenure, he also managed his firm’s private lending unit and was responsible for all aspects of the private loan process. Rick is a former board director of the California Association of Mortgage Brokers, is an active member of the Elks and volunteers as a coach in community sports programs. Rick was born in San Francisco, raised in the Bay Area and recently returned to Sonoma County to raise his two children and care for his family.
Marcus is a local student at Novato High School and Marin School of the Arts, interning for Pacific Private Money while working on a (Top Secret!) project with Mark and Lisa. He has three years of experience in film and video broadcast, Video Production, and theatrical design, and is working through his senior year in the Film and Video program at MSA, while preparing to graduate and head off to college at the end of this year.
